I get so much pleasure from being in nature and watching trees and hedges come into bud towards the end of Winter. A sign of fresh growth, abundance and the new season and warmth getting closer. On my daily mindful wanders I take time to observe nature, finding joy in the little things – moss clinging to a gritstone wall, lichen hugging tree branches, the burst of green from conifers that offer shelter to wildlife over winter.
My studio faces up towards the moorland east of Glossop, so I get to watch the changing landscape. Creating this range of coasters and vessels is my way to bring that beauty and nature a little closer to us in our homes.
This piece has been fired in an electric kiln to 1250 degrees centigrade. All dimensions and weights are approximate. This piece is glazed inside and out, with the exception of the base which is unglazed. We therefore recommend protecting surfaces you place this item is placed on.
Please note that all of my pieces are handmade and one of a kind, therefore minor imperfections may be present in the form, texture, colour and markings created during the making process – these add to the character of each piece, and makes each piece unique. Bases may not be completely level which reflects the handmade quality and the processes undergone through firing in the kiln. Some of the edges may feel a rough or sharp, this is perfectly normal with this design.
To preserve the beautiful glaze we advise handwashing items only. Glaze is food safe.
